App size: 27.15 Mb
The Fruits ESL app teaches 28 words for fruits in five groups. [The plural form of “fruit” in English can be either “fruit” or “fruits” (indicating different types of fruit).]
The “Kids’ favourites” group teaches the words for six fruits: canteloupe, cherries, grapes, kiwi, raisins and watermelon. The “Tropical fruits” are banana, coconut, mango, papaya, pineapple and pomegranate. “Citrus fruits” include grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange and tangerine. “Berries” are blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries and strawberries. “Fruit that grows on trees” are apples, apricots, nectarines, peaches, pears and plums.
Of course there are many other fruits that are not included in this app. Ask a member of your community if you need to know a particular word, or use a translation program on the internet to find the English word. This suite of eight user-friendly apps is intended to introduce vocabulary to students who are learning English.
In all activities in each app, students will see a graphic, read the English word, and hear the word spoken by an accomplished teacher. Students are invited to participate in four activities: "Lets learn" (words are repeated with ample time for the student to practice saying them); "Lets practice" (a drag and drop activity matching printed words with pictures); "Lets play" (a game in which students match graphics and sound); and "Quiz" (students must choose the correct picture for a written and spoken word). Even young students who do not yet read will be able to use all activities because the sound is always attached to graphics and word boxes.
